Hawa Feminist Coalition

Hawa Feminist Coalition is a feminist organization founded by young women and girls all under the age of 35 in 2018, as the first and only feminist movement in Somalia. They reach out, mobilize and organize young women and girls in feminist solidarity to build a strong and visible feminist movement. HAWA provides a space where young feminist activists are safe and encouraged to use their voice and collectively raise attention to their rights and needs.

The Feminist Coalition creates awareness campaigns and speak out against the prevalent sexual and gender-based violence. They advocate for strengthened legal protection for women and girls and for the elimination of all harmful practices against women and girls.

Hawa Feminist Coalition receives funding support from the Black Feminist Fund through our Sustain Fund.
