Help us fund Black feminist movements like we want them to win!
Black feminist movements are the antitode to the ride of global authoritarianism and they are creating models for peace, safety, and joy around the world. And yet, our research shows that less than 1% of Black feminist movements receive the financial backing they deserve to sustain their work. In fact, the majority of Black feminist organizations and collectives have never received general operating support.
The Black Feminist Fund (BFF) is the first global fund devoted to Black feminist agendas led by Black women, girls, trans, and non-binary people. We are modeling the very grantmaking that our movements and leaders have designed.
All of our grants are flexible and solely support Black feminist-led movements working in Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, and Europe. We fund registered and non-registered groups. The movements we support are fighting against systems of oppression and building another world that is affirming of Black women and gender-expansive people. Our grants are not tied to particular themes or issues because Black feminism is intersectional.
In our first year of grantmaking, the Black Feminist Fund has disrupted deeply rooted gendered and racialized biases in access to funding by giving eight-year core grants.
We are changing the way Black feminist groups are resourced. Together, we can do more.
We know that when Black feminists win, democracy wins.
When Black feminists win, climate justice wins.
When Black feminists win, inequality loses, and justice is within our reach and
We ALL win!
